The second annual China-Tanzania job fair officially opened at the University of Dar es Salaam. The event was organized by the Chinese Business Chamber, the Confucius Institute and the Tanzania-China Council for Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification. Over 100 Chinese companies took part with local students coming from all over the country seeking to secure opportunities. This event is linked to proposals by the Chinese Embassy and Tanzanian Education Department to establish a vocational institute and university. It is hoped this will provide professional training to the youth and prepare Tanzania for industrialization. The business generates around 20 per cent of the entire country's electricity at its plant in the capital, Dar es Salaam.
